Benchmark Estimating Software & MIEngineers changing lives for the better
Benchmark Estimating Software and its sister company MIEngineers were privileged to collaborate with the University of Sydney’s, Uni 2 Beyond, internship pilot program and are extremely proud of the great success achieved by this pioneering initiative.
Uni 2 Beyond is an inclusive education program that aims to develop both ‘work-ready’ skills as well as broaden the social networks of students with an intellectual disability.
As our participation in the program, in September 2016 we welcomed Amrita Ramjas to embark on a six-week paid internship where she had the opportunity to showcase her abilities and further expand her workforce skills.
“It has always been my dream to gain experience in engineering, the same field my father is working in,” Amrita said. “I am very grateful that MIEngineers and Benchmark Estimating Software helped me fulfil this dream.”
“Our time spent with Amrita gave us invaluable insights into the importance of fostering not only within our own industry, but our whole community, the idea that inclusion and diversity should be a driving force to engaging a better quality of life for us all,” Rob MacDonald, director of MIEngineers and Benchmark Estimating Software said.
“Our participation in Amrita’s journey has enriched our company’s pursuit of our goal to build awareness towards the capacity for change and through supporting positive initiatives like Uni 2 Beyond we are actually changing lives for the better.”
“I can personally say that my experience with Amrita and the Centre for Disability Studies (CDS) team was an extremely positive one and I would encourage other members of our business community to look at this initiative in the future. We look forward to continuing our relationship with CDS and welcoming another intern into MIEngineers and Benchmark Estimating Software in 2017.” Rob MacDonald said.
