United Utilities partners with Benchmark Estimating to deliver AMP8 Capital Programme
United Utilities, one of the UK’s largest water authorities, has partnered Benchmark Estimating to support its £975 million AMP8 capital works programme. As the sixth UK water authority to adopt Benchmark, this partnership reinforces our leadership in the sector, helping drive greater consistency and efficiency across infrastructure projects.
We’re proud to announce that United Utilities has partnered with Benchmark Estimating to support the delivery of its AMP8 capital works programme, a critical investment in resilient infrastructure for the North West of England.
United Utilities, whose purpose is to deliver high-quality, sustainable water services that meet the needs of people and the environment, serves over 7 million people and 200,000 businesses. As the water authority for the UK’s third-largest population, this partnership reinforces Benchmark’s position as a trusted technology provider for asset owners across the UK water sector. United Utilities is the sixth UK Water Authority to choose Benchmark Estimating to streamline cost estimation and capital planning.
Supporting the UK's largest water infrastructure investment in a century
As part of AMP8, United Utilities is investing £975 million to build a stronger, greener, healthier North West. The capital programme will:
- Fix leaks across the network
- Replace 950 kilometres of aging water mains
- Enable long-term supply growth across the region
This is part of United Utilities' wider commitment to investing £13 billion between 2025–2030, the largest investment in water and wastewater infrastructure for over 100 years. This programme will protect and enhance more than 500 kilometres of rivers, lakes and bathing waters, while safeguarding drinking water supplies for future generations.
