WestConnex is Australia’s biggest urban road project and will be delivered in three stages over 10 years. The WestConnex Project will link Sydney’s west with the airport and the Port Botany precinct, and will include the M4 extension and duplication of the M5 East to King Georges Road.
Global property, infrastructure and advisory consultancy Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) was awarded the cost management role on the $11 billion, 33-kilometre WestConnex motorway. To deliver on this cost management role, RLB partnered with Benchmark Estimating’s sister company MIEngineers.
MIEngineers is a highly respected, independent consulting engineering firm specialising in infrastructure cost engineering. Formed in 1985, MIEngineers have forged a reputation for tackling complex engineering challenges, harnessing the power of Benchmark Estimating Software to assist them in their cost engineering practices.
Matthew Harris, a director at RLB, said WestConnex was “… not just a road project, but a complex piece of integrated infrastructure…“.
Matthew goes on to say “Their (MIEngineers) cost engineering capability, coupled with RLB’s ability to deliver on nation building projects proved to be the winning formula.”
This magnificent achievement reinforces the enviable reputation of the MacDonald Group of companies, especially when it comes to major infrastructure projects. Benchmark Estimating is a world leader in the provision of estimating software solutions and related services, coupled by the specialised cost engineering capacity within MIEngineers. This close, strong partnership has helped to make both companies unique in their market segments, and keeps both companies at the forefront of their product and service offerings across the globe.
